Student and Staff – Safety, Security and Inclusivity

At BIMM University, we pride ourselves on providing safe, secure and inclusive environments for our students and staff. We believe every individual has the right to feel safe, respected, and valued on our campuses.

Safety and Security

  • Campus Security and Safety: Campus security teams are present during campus opening hours, to maintain a safe and secure environment. They are trained to respond to incidents promptly and to aid students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, we have trained first aiders and mental health first aiders to provide initial support to those in need.
  • Reporting Incidents: We encourage students and staff to report any suspicious activity or incidents to campus security or other appropriate staff and managers. We have confidential reporting mechanisms in place to ensure that concerns can be raised without fear of retaliation. The following link will take you to a full list of our policies and procedures including Bullying & Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Code of Conduct, Freedom of Speech, Equal Opportunities, Universal Values and Safeguarding policy: Important policies and procedures
  • Emergency Preparedness: We have robust emergency preparedness plans in place to address various potential threats, including natural disasters, active situations, and medical emergencies. Regular training ensures that our community is well-prepared to respond effectively.

Inclusivity and Belonging

  • Diversity and Equity: We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive campus community. We embrace individuals from all backgrounds and strive to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels respected and valued.
  • Student Wellbeing and Support Services: We have a range of support services with a friendly and professional network to help students succeed. From disability and learning support to study skills, mental health, counselling and many other aspects of student life, our dedicated teams are ready to provide support and guidance throughout your studies. These services are designed to meet the needs of all students and promote their overall well-being. Click this link for more information: Student Wellbeing and Support.
    • Togetherall: BIMM students and staff have access to Togetherall, a digital mental health self-help support service which is available online, 24/7 and is completely anonymous so you can express yourself freely and openly. Click here for info: Togetherall
  • Report and Support: We have various reporting processes in place to address incidents of discrimination, harassment, or bias. If you or someone else who is a staff member, student or visitor, experiences abuse, bullying, harassment, hate crime or sexual misconduct, you can use this form to report your concerns: Reporting form. Reporting such incidents helps us to identify and address issues promptly and take appropriate action.

Student Involvement

  • Governance and Student Associations: We encourage student involvement in campus governance through our student association and student representative opportunities. These, along with representation on university committees, provide a platform for students to voice their concerns, advocate for their interests, and contribute to creating a positive campus culture.
    • Students can find out who their local reps are via the Student Association, their Head of School or Course Leader.

All of our student policies can be found here

By working together, we can create a safe, secure, and inclusive campus where all students can flourish.
