Performers College graduates and lecturers appear in the new movie musical Matilda

8 December, 2022

Matilda the Musical is a multi-award-winning musical from the Royal Shakespeare Company, inspired by the Roald Dahl book. The 2022 musical movie adaptation is directed by Olivier and Tony award-winning Director Matthew Warchus with original songs by Tim Minchin and choreography by Ellen Kane.

It is the inspirational tale of an extraordinary girl who discovers her superpower and summons the remarkable courage, against all odds, to help others change their stories, whilst also taking charge of her own destiny.

Graduates Divine Creswell, Dan Cooke, Daniel Hope and Redmand Rance all feature in this latest adaption as ensemble parts throughout and were joined by our Principal Lecturer of Musical Theatre in Essex, Kieran Jae and course leader of our MA Performing Arts, Paul Saunders.

Kieran Jae had this to say about his experience:

“I felt honoured to have been asked to be a small part of this incredible cast of amazing performers and creatives. Ellen Kane (the choreographer) is a genius and her work on this movie, especially with the children is exceptional. I am thankful to have worked with her for the 4th time in this clever and innovative motion picture.”
