Performers College students announced as the cast of Birmingham Royal Ballet’s ‘Seraphina’

Congratulations to the students from Performers College Birmingham who have been announced as the cast of Seraphina for the Birmingham Royal Ballet’s first-ever Curtain Raiser at both performances of ‘Into The Music’ at the Birmingham Hippodrome in October.

On Saturday, 22 October, when the curtain rises on BRB’s performances of Into the Music, a group of Performers College students will open the show with a performance of a specially created work.

Seraphina was created as part of the Lazuli Sky Dance Performance Project, led by the BRB’s Learning, Engagement, Access and Participation department in spring 2022. The project was set up to give talented young dancers in the city an opportunity to work with the company to develop their technique, choreography and creative skills. Seraphina, also the name of the Goddess of Wild Nature, takes inspiration from Will Tuckett’s Lazuli Sky and the beauty of the natural world, which flourished during the global pandemic.

Choreographed by dance artist Patsy Browne-Hope and BRB First Soloist Lachlan Monaghan, Seraphina was created in a five-day intensive rehearsal process and was to be performed outdoors at the Birmingham International Dance Festival, however sadly the rainy weather conditions drew a halt to the performance at the festival. We are delighted and very proud that the company have now offered the students a performance opportunity on the Birmingham Hippodrome main stage.
